Description

Brookwood Cemetery was consecrated by the Bishop of Winchester on 7 November 1854 and opened to the public on 13 November 1854. At that time Brookwood Cemetery was the largest burial ground in the world. Today this is no longer true, but it remains the largest Cemetery in the UK, and is probably the biggest in Western Europe. Since 1854, over 235,000 people have been buried here. Thank you for looking, as always any comments or suggestions welcome 8~) **Best Viewed Full Size**

A nice POV, autumnal textures, subject matter and natural light, my friend. November is traditionally, in the Christian calendar, a month in which we are asked to remember our dear departed. Many visit cemeteries as a sign of respect to their lost ones. It is nice to see a cemetery which has been in uninterrupted use for so long, and is still treated with respect by the public and looked after by the ground staff. Regards, John.

I have noticed in quite a few pics of this series, that there seems to be plenty of space about, it doesn't seem to have any 'order' to it. If I go to my local cemetery they are packed in like sardines, in regimental straight lines. It is so full they are having to extend it into a field next door. This is a great capture David, the colours are fantastic, especially the foreground and the sun breaking through the trees adds impact. Excellent work. Bravo!!!!!
