Description

If there was one thing I thought about changing it was the wire that is strung across the top of this image. This actually was installed to hold this historic church together after a tornado threatened to split it wide open. As it was, many of the stained glass panels were destroyed. Thanks for the view. Nice picture. I would not have noticed the wire until you pointed it out, great you ruined the whole thing for me!... Just kidding... :) Is this the bride you met with, and did that go well? It makes me shiver to think about it... brides are scary... :) Todd

Nice shot -- I wouldn't have notice the cable, either, had you not called attention to it. And the story adds to things. This is a nice "God's eye view" of the ceremony. Beautiful work, once again.

Unsightly or not, its comforting to know this arched building won't be falling to the left and right any time soon.

After all the adoration, prayers, worship he/she receives, you would think that God would spare churches during earthquakes and tornadoes, but it turns out those are the structures that are hit the worst. And the list is long. In any event, a fine overhead POV amd lighting effects in this shot of the interior and participants. BTW, I don't see anything scary about brides. In fact, they are so taken with the moment that they are hardly a threat.

Very beautiful foto, and what's even more amazing, we have the exact same kinds of wires in my church. They were installed after an earthquake!!

I might have post worked the wire but it would take away from the real character - it withstood a lot of beating and it's a gorgeous place inside. I love the bright colors all over against the softer gray.

I woke up and decided to go gallery-ing, and thought it was time to pay this lovely shot a visit, since I've seen it several times but didn't pull up a chair...I looked at it full-size for a while and it's really quite subtle & lovely. Churches are so photogenic because of their 'drama' that I'd think they'd actually be tough to photograph (!) because you want to capture something other than the 'obvious'. (This is what I'd imagine.) What's so lovely about this is the quiet shadows under the arches above the altar, and how they canopy the scene in an almost mid-day restfulness---it just balances and soothes the grandeur of the view; yet it's grand all the same, even for a small church, partly because you're on the balcony but always because of your choices: The sweep is just in right balance, the bride is truly the light in the center of everything, you captured the nooks & crannies of the church very unassumingly (and one wants to look in them!), and the light pouring through the windows is as the mystics wanted light to be, in church interiors: something massive pouring into our humble abode like an oratorio streaming from the heavens (streaming video!). A humble yet luminous wedding, in a simple, subtle, and quietly touching shot. Lovely.
