Description

These sea gulls are the largest I have ever seen and they frequent the south coast of the North Island in New Zealand, where the wind is often extremly fast. They are different to almost all other gulls in that they never scavange, but still hunt for food in the ocean. This was Taken with the Sony Alpha at about 90m on the stock 300mm lens at full zoom on a rare windless day.

This is such a peaceful gull. I love that they aren't scavengers. I sort of like it when they are though because then I can get them to come up to me to take food from my hand. Beautiful shot.
