A week or so ago I was taking photos in the backyard when the light falling on a spider's web in the beams of the car port caught my eye. I took a quick shot, then moved closer to the web for a closeup. Then I noticed the web's owner hurriedly scurrying for the safety of the wooden beams. I took a couple shots, focussing on the small insect still struggling in the spider's sticky web, then moved on. When I downloaded the images to my computer, I saw that I had caught a small drama unfolding with my first shot. I'm glad my camera, an EOS Rebel, allowed enough zoom to show the spider wrapping up its prey before I got close enough to scare it away.
