Description

Wat Arun, or Temple of Dawn, is located on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River. It was constructed during the first half of the 19th century by Rama II and Rama III. The height of the central prong (Khmer-style tower) is variously given as 66m, 80m, 82m, or 88m. The Tourism Authority of Thailand lists the height as 104m. The central prong, and the four smaller prongs, are decorated with bits of multi-coloured ceramic tiles and porcelain which had previously been used as ballast by boats coming to Bangkok from China. It was host to the Emerald Buddha for a brief period. The picture was taken in October 1967 and was later scanned. Thanks for viewing and commenting on my last upload.

It is a great shot, the light is beautiful; funny enough you captured the Temple of Dawn at sunset. However I think that the picture even improves after a slight rotation in a way that horizon and tower are absolutely straight and after removing a few artifacts in the dark area.

Oh, so beautiful picture and very nice lighting and color on it ! I would like to see more contrast here, but yes, without postwork, still so beautiful too ! Good day :)

Spectacular cloud formation hides the sun, but the light coming through is just wonderful. And the silhouette of the temple is a point of great interest!

Wundervolle Komposition! Silhouette des Tempels, Wolken, die untergehende Sonne und dann noch das Boot im Vordergrund: Dein bestes bisher, Sig!
