Description

Well, I'd hoped to have not one but TWO new images for you guys before Thanksgiving, but the world and inspiration conspired against it. I've been working on Ciel's "iconic" image like Lana's and Oola's before it. However, in the middle of working on it, while struggling to get just that perfect pose, I just got this strong urge to bring one of my favorite Star Wars Legacy characters to life. Thus, I bring you Deliah Blue! She is the Zeltron mechanic of Cade Skywalker's Mynock. However, as the title states, she's not finished. After getting her morph, skin, and hair shaders down, I decided I wanted to try to recreate her standard outfit as closely as possible. This, of course, means lots of clothes hunting and texture creation on my part. I have finished preliminary texturing on her shirt (which I may tweak), but her pants aren't finished yet (though she is wearing underwear)! I was so excited about how she was progressing that I wanted to share. You can see two earlier shots of her here and here. So my final question to any of you still with me at this point is: Is seeing WIP's like this something you'd like to see more often? Does it increase your anticipation towards seeing the final image or does it ruin the surprise? Would you rather see a WIP at about this stage, or earlier in the process so there's a greater difference between the WIP and the final image? Please, let me know! Thanks for looking and for your comments! Hi-Res @ RadiantCG.com, now on a faster server!

Posting WIPs is a mixed blessing and I find it hard to choose to post or not (I've got a few I haven't posted, as you well know). On the one hand it's good to get input. On the other sometimes I've already come to a decision on what I want, I just want to hear someone else say it (if that makes sense). In that case hearing 12 different opinions is of no help when really you just want to know if people like it so far. All in all though sometimes it helps generate options you may not have thought of, so go for it. As for this one, I like the morph and hair you've got here. Though I like the transmap and overall pattern of the shirt, I'm not a fan of the colours (though I haven't seen the original). That could just be me, but I prefer a more simplified/subtle colour scheme (says the man who renders bubblegum pink twi'leks).

WIP's are fine for me as long as I see great improvements along the way. So for your creation, she's looking good!

She looks incredible. Not sure what to say on WIP's. I guess if the final doesn't look lots and lots like the WIP I'd like them better. IE maybe different pose, scene, etc.

Man i was waiting for someone to render Deliah Blue. It's about time! Anyway, to answer your question, the wip images so far sound like a good thing. I don't think there necessarily essential but nevertheless they are still welcome in my opinion.

Nice work! IMO we don't see enough uploads from you, so a few WIP's might be a good thing :)
