We are given the gift of life

This is Nikita, an African lioness, and a true survivor with such a strong spirit. She was found chained to a wall in a crack house, bone-thin with huge swellings on her elbows from always being on concrete. Today she is strong, playful, proud, and thriving at the Big Cat Rescue in Tampa, Florida.
I am so thankful for the caring people who save and help these beautiful creatures. Here is a link if you would like to read more: Rescue

Yes, there are still kind and humane people left in the world, and when I hear stories like this it breaks my heart...sometimes it's overwhelming to think of all the cruelty that goes on....this is a beautiful and wonderful tribute, Carol, to a truly magnificent creature who now has a good life ! ~ Hugs ~ Animals.... Humans can sometimes be the cruelest living things on Earth. I read an article yesterday that said, with the exception of humans, evil does not exist in nature. There is horror aplenty, but not evil. But, on the flip side, there are people of an angelic quality that make up for all of the true darkness out there. I'm glad to hear this majestic beast is on the road to recovery. Excellent piece of art.

She is absolutely gorgeous Carol. It's always nice to hear a happy ending to a tragic story. Humanity is still as barbaric, ruthless and savage as it was a thousand years ago, despite the facade of being "civilized".

Great story, I'm really glad this Lioness was rescued, but I never thought she was a mascot in a crack-house and now is doing much better ! Neat fur painting and composition Carol ! LOL & ~Cheers~ :o)
