Description

Something to break the animal exhibition i seem to have gathered recently. Thanks for the comments on my last upload, loved the reaction i got for that - here is the secret: it was shot through a thick window, inside with weird coloured lights. Oh and i might break the spell with the next thing: he was having a play with his little thing at the time - watching the random humans pointing and laughing...and mums and dads ignoring it, ushering children away from the scene of the crime! :) Anyway, this is pretty much my first serious attempt at catching free flowing silky water on a long exposure, and one of my first shots in the town i stayed at in Peru. I was walking around looking for shots to take on the stream which ran through the village and this boot was just there, wedged into the rocks, so i took advantage of the situation (and almost fell in) to compose a shot (no i didnt move the boot... i found it right there!). Much to the amusement of the villagers passing over the bridge i was under taking this shot. I doubt they had seen many foreigners in the village for long (the bus stops on the back route to machu pichu, but only to let the locals off) let alone a loon with a camera taking a photo of a boot... one of a few moment where i felt a little silly. "It's all for the shot, Rich." i told myself. Hopefully the experience was worth it. This was originally intended for an HDR, but instead i just composited the middle and high exposures of the three to get the sky looking ok (the HDR version looked terrible - got to get to grips with that). The rest was photoshop trickery :) Enjoy! Rich

Definitely worth it Rich! This is an excellent image. Love how you've brought attention to the boot.......... attempt to be serious, yet there is a slight taste of humour... brought a smile to my face! :) You gotta wonder sometimes..... a lot more original than a bottle with a note inside... such a clear and crisp capture..... wonderful texture and an extremely beautiful presentation..... the little bit of red is eye catching and yet not distracting.... superb artwork! The misty water is remarkable as well....... so much detail!!!

Wow that's real close buddy even on a 1.6 crop sensor. It's also a very bootiful photograph 😉 Very well worth the risk.

Well done Rich, I'm sure the locals thought you where a crazy person he he. No really, great shot, you done well with the exposure - I reckon a crop just above the boot would look nice too. Got that trek-advert "for rough and ready hiking boots" thing going on - I know what I mean:) Great shot!
