Description

Brookwood Cemetery was consecrated by the Bishop of Winchester on 7 November 1854 and opened to the public on 13 November 1854. At that time Brookwood Cemetery was the largest burial ground in the world. Today this is no longer true, but it remains the largest Cemetery in the UK, and is probably the biggest in Western Europe. Since 1854, over 235,000 people have been buried here. Thank you for looking, as always any comments or suggestions welcome 8~) **Best Viewed Full Size**

So very sad to see these damaged gravestones, a great pity the cemetary do not maintain them in better condition. Your picture tells a story, dear David. Well shot. Hugs for a very happy day. DiDi. xx

I shall have no marker when I die, put me in the fire and scatter my ashes, think not sad thoughts of me, but rejoice in the life that I lived and remember the joy(I hope) that I gave. I won't get on my soapbox, enough already. Excellent capture of this sad state of repair to the tomb stones David. Bravo!!!!!
