Intresting terrain! IMHO i would make the spikes more visible, maybe with other colors. The clouds are ... m ... not as good ;-)

Good camera-position and, as Topsider wrote, intresting terrain. Try to render it larger and increase the terrain-size.This pic has potential...the surface may needs a bit more fine work, the clouds could look more realistic. Sorry for my "straight" judgement...just go on and show us more :-)

I like the landscape and would love to see it rendered again in another image ;) dark and brooding type scene would be great!

Cheers for the comments. I know what you mean about the clouds, but that was the interesting part of the picture for me. I used to see clouds like this where I come from, they didn't look real and yet they were, hence the title of the picture and the phrase "painted sky" Kate, if you let me know how to do this I would be greatful. Think I need to go and buy poser. It needs a Knight on horseback staring of towards the horizon
