Description

So the Inca had a thing with framing the natural world within windows and doors. And as mountain peaks were sacred to them then it is only right that the main entrance door into the (main) urban sector of the site directly faced Waynu Picchu - the peak you see in the background - it was not a coincidence... Even in a place of such hostility towards construction (the place has 60% of its construction beneath the surface for it to actually be there), they put great emphasis on such things and even tho it has a religious and spiritual significance, i doubt the aesthetics of it was lost on the Inca :) So yeah - another shot from Machu Picchu. A lot of my shots of the place arent amazing imo - mainly because i saw so many damned postcards of the place that any "interesting" angle had pretty much been found and covered to death. This one is definitely one of those... Anyway - hope you like it. Enjoy! Rich

I'm sure Indiana Jones will come running down that path any minute now, followed by a bunch of angry ... well, that's just in my imagination, of course. I see I'm not the only one thinking similar things. :o) Excellent POV! Love the colors and light in this one.

Yepp! as odie says, I did not see any postcard either of this part of the world so actualy your shot show me where have you been and what a fantastic place it is. I prefer this thost over any postcard, I feel it more real. About a picture. I love the stone texture, so real and a mountain framed perfectly to grab my attention.

I like this shot alot...I haven't seen the postcards so I'm living vicariously through your travels ;o) Amazing the way they felt they had to frame things. With the path almost looks as if you could walk strait to the mountain :D

Well Rich, most of us will never see these places, and I, too, have never seen a postcard from there. So from my POV this is an excellent shot.
