Greetings to the people of Earth.
I've always wanted to say that! Now that I did, I can now get on with other things.
I'm a science fiction writer (not famous yet) born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. I've lived in the Czech Republic and Germany, and though I am currently back in Chicago, much of my heart remains in the Czech Republic. Maybe it's the beer. Or the bread. I hope to live in Moscow soon, as a big portion of my heart already resides there. I've had an interest in science fiction since an early age and will probably maintain that interest for the rest of my life. I love SF, and anything else that embraces the spirit of discovery...or anything that chafes against the arbitrary boundaries of "conformity."ÂÂ
I discovered Renderosity a couple of years back when I was browsing the internet, looking for cool images to spark my imagination during a period of writer's block. It wasn't a serious block, but I needed something to make me ask the sorts of questions that I always ask before settling down to craft a short story or novella. Since that time, I've written quite a lot and I've begun to post photographs and other visual works that I created here...partially because I love the Renderosity community in general, and partially because the images and text-snippets that I have contributed here are something of an ongoing journal. I'm incredibly lazy when it comes to journal keeping, and so posting picures of particular significance actually helps me to remember the things I want to remembe, without having to eat into my fiction writing time by writing non fiction. Well, at least that's my excuse and I am sticking with it.
I entered into the field of photography totally by accident; I'd always been interested in capturing small stories, but it wasn't until my journey to Europe that I began to consciously seek out tableaus that imply stories in progress. As a result of that, my writing is growing in unexpected directions, and I look forward to becoming more and more active here, and in other artistic/publishing fields.

The creases in the post card make it look like a very old foto, you bring something special to a couple of very unspecial items. The lights, shadows, reflections all add to this wonderful shot!!

This image is simple, yet quite complex in its interpretations and possible analysis. I see and feel the theme of time... chronological time, that is. It as though the past is being remembered and reminisced through a favourite present past time (perhaps?_), as the two very different, yet meaningful "subjects" you've juxtaposed are a reflection of one another; a mirror image---ironically.... I love the wood, and the tone created through the artist (whom is yourself, ofcourse). Excellent idea and composition. There is also a great sense of longing that is left behind---- perhaps a distant memory. Really phenomenal work, my friend! This is marvellous!

I agree with beachzz....no one would think to give a second glance at a worn tattered photo and a glass of beer but they don't have to in your image because at one glance they can see the special quality...it sets the mood of a friendship past, a friendship missed, thoughts escaping back to a moment in time maybe shared over a mug of beer such as in Your image...I like this, simple but special...very well done my friend.

I like this shot with the grain of the wood, the well-worn photograph that looks as if it's been carried around and looked at often by a loved one and the drink to toast the memory of a friend.

Greetings, Before commenting upon your image, allow me to say that I truly appreciated reading what you had to say and it allowed for one to understand the image better, even tough I feel the story was not necessary from enjoying the image. On a technical note, the natural lighting is beautiful, including the elements themselves. I would have preferred seeing one more element to complete the triad, even though the story is about Kafka and beer. The fact that this is a modern postcard that has been worn and well traveled is perfect and even provides charm of a time long past. In general, I really like this photographs appeal. Thank you for sharing. egmont

I love the mood you have captured so well. It is Kafkaesk in a way and it has something retro about it. Imagining gentlemen dressed in black suits drinking their glass in an old smokestained pub. Cosy and still a bit frightening. You do not know what horror awaits yu just one step further. I do not know if anyone called him Frantisek and it doesn't really matter, does it? He is part of all our heritage whatever one may call him.
