Description

Prelude to the Afternoon of a Fawn (Prélude à l'Après-midi d'un faune)is a musical piece written by Claude Debussy (1862 - 1918) The prelude, "Afternoon of a Faun," suggested by the symbolic poem of Mallarmé, "L'Après-midi d'un faune," was performed for the first time in Paris, in 1894. Notwithstanding the somewhat obscure text of the poem, the composer has accompanied it with delicate, expressive, and graceful music significant to the sensuous, pleasure-loving nature of the Faun. It is in effect a pastoral rhapsody. "The delicious hour grew vaguer. Experience or dream, he (the Faun) will never know which it was. The sun is warm, the grasses yielding ; and he curls himself up again after worshiping the efficacious star." ~Edmund Gosse

OK, so this isn't a fawn in the image....think "suspension of digital disbelief"...or is that "digital suspension of disbelief" :o) ...just the first thing that popped in my head after completing this and I thought it kinda fits. This is an immensely enjoyable piece! Definitely a favorite as well! I love your style, AND your musical tastes. Debussy is one of my favorite composers, though right now I'm on this Czech Composer kick, espececially Leos Janacek (just put those barbed wire marks over the "s" in Leos and the "c" in Janacek.) But anyway, I love the quality of this image and the subject matter! As always, fantastic work, Mina...
