Description

Hello,:) Here's another image made in zbrush which I will explain about below for anyone intrested in how I make this type of image. Thanks for looking in and have a great weekend everyone.Catch you soon, cal This is another character made intirely in zbrush3.1. 1) Create a head from a sphere ,sculpt to a high level of detail.(This head took around a week) (This head is 6 million polys without armour! It depends on what power your pc has but you need near 1 million polys atleast for a smooth mask to poly extraction explained next). 2) Paint a 'mask'(In edit mode hold ctrl and left click to paint) onto your 1 million+ mesh in the style of what you want your new extracted object to look like. 3) Go to subtool tab and click , at the bottom of the opened tab is a slider for the thickness of your mask extraction. (Extract by pressing the large mesh extract button in the subtool tab) Experiment to see what you want.If your extraction is not what you wanted just select the new subtool and delete it in the subtool tab. The mask will still be present so just repeat untill your happy. 4) Select your new subtool design and use a low intensity smooth brush to tidy up the new subtool. 5) In the deformations tab you can use any of the sliders to modify your new subtool. I generally take the size up 1 or 2 and then us the move brush to pull the subtool around for a better look. 6) Delete the mask from the head by going to 'mask tab' 'clear mask'. Paint more pieces if you like. I sometimes do 7-8 subtools this way. 7) Apply materials to different subtools by turning on MRGB and then by selecting the 'colour'tab ,then 'fill object'. (You have to go to each subtool and apply directly making sure MRGB is pressed.) 8) (SAVE YOUR MODEL AT THIS POINT) Now drop the lot to canvas by selecting the simple brush and agreeing to drop to canvas. (This will drop the items into 2.5D .That means your image is now just 'an image'but with the same depth as if it were still 3D! This process free your pcs resources to be able to add new tools, objects etc to your image with exploding your pc *poof*.) When you have moved a new item into place on your image drop it to canvas unless your going to use it multiple times.Do this by placing your object where you want it ,then in transormation tab click the camaera icon to snap shot the object. You have dropped one to canvas but have a clone still ready to move to a new position. This method will allow you to put alot of detail into your images.(If you like that sort of thing). Render using good shadows and light to suit. 9) I use cs2,painterx and psp7 for colouring . 10) Go to sleep! 11)If anyone is unclear about anything your welcome to IM and I'll reply as soon as I can. Thanks cal

And he's back with yet another amazing piece for all of us to drool over! LOL! The levels of intricate detail are just amazing, Calum! Thanks for the workflow outline, as well; although, I don't think those words can truly estimate all the time that was put into this image with all the effort you put into it. The structure of the face is really remarkable with the wrinkles and expression you created for him and the armor is truly something to stare at for hours! Always such pleasure when you post your work and to see such graphical delights, Buddy! Keep up the superb work and I look forward to more! P.S. See, Calum?! I'm psychic! LOL! 10starsmr3.png

Excellent character. Superb definition and skin texture. It looks like a character for a game or movie. It's very good you wrote down all the steps needed to create this character but I went to step 10 straight away. 8-)
