Description

... I have to wear shades" Hi - thanks for stopping in again. "Future So Bright..." has been in the works for a while in various configurations and incarnations.. finally it is done. DAZ|Studio render - compositing and post work in Photoshop CS3. Lighting: Light Dome Pro Medium resolution was rendered in multiple passes. Ambient lighting provided by Pendragon's environment light and a Dosch HDR file I got with 3d-World. A note on Pendragon's environment light - if you're just using IBL and AO (not ILT): for final renders you should drop the "Irradiance Shadingrate" value to something less than 16 (preferably 1 or 2) and the "Irradiance MaxError" to 0.5 - this will cut artifacting with only a slight increase in render time. Lights were rendered in seperate passes - the IBL AO pass took about 4 hours, the sky dome pass with 36 lights took 32 hours to render, the Sunlight with raytraced shadows took 4 hours to render and the reflection pass of the skydome took 2 hours. A LOT of that render time was the reflection / refraction on the car windows. I also rendered a pass with Dreamlight's Mood master which was composited in screen mode to provide some haze and as a layer mask for a brightness/contrast adjustment layer. This gave the heavy atmospheric effect. The whole thing was assembled in photoshop, with multiple copies of the various lighting passes in 'screen' and 'multiply' mode to give a lot of contrast between the sunlit area and the shade. Also in the scene are Victoria 3 with catsuit and Sci Fi textures and Stonemason's "Urban Future" -- all from DAZ and Uzilight's awsome car avaiable at RDNA. In the scene but not clearly visible are several Dystopia city blocks from the fourth set, which are in the reflections, make up the the street and cast the shadows to the left and right of the frame. I am so glad the odyssey is finally over with this one... it's been plaguing me for a year :) As always constructive criticism and hints for improvememnt are most welcome and many thanks to the folks at DAZ Artist Guild for the support and encouragment.

Great skil and idea, not to talk about patience! (I hope you have at least two computers!) One thing that strikes me with all your images is your way of lightning, I have rarely met someone with your way of "seeing" the light. A great piece of work and vision Michael! Peter

I can't believe this hasn't gotten more response. It's absolutely amazing and I am with Cim and Shotgung0d and bowing to your patience. I had a image render up to 24 hours and only at 49% when I shut it down. Your work amazes me every time you post!
