Description

Creative title, I know. I thought I'd throw a little touch of summer in my gallery, after that long icey series of the swans. I want to thank you all so much for your great comments on my snowy swans; some DO stick around and tough out the Minnesota winters. I do feel sorry for them, but I'm sure they know of a secret stash of food supply. Maybe these are just the lazy ones of the bunch? :) .. Afterall, That IS a long flight down there; lotsa flappin and exercise. I know if it were me, I would want a rest in every county. Now I'm blah blah blahing too much. lol Have a great day; and thanks for stopping by and for your comments. I have fallen behind once again here, so I hope to catch up on your gallerys over the weekend. Shari

excellent macro. it maybe a fly mimic.their antennae is a different length than hornet/wasps.the good news is they can not sting and seldom bite unless provoked

The lazy ones, huh! :)) It certainly is a very light and gay display of pleasant colors. Well done and well presented Shari. Good luck for the winter...

I am struck by your post work here. Most often when I see a macro of a wasp, it is in vivid color. It is surrounded by vivid color. It seems it is done so to show its dangerous side, its furosity, but you have turned that around and done it so very softy, taking nothing away from the clarity and intent. Excellent post work!

shudder As a kid I used to get stung by these things when trimming my grandmother's hedges. I still feel like stepping back every time I encounter one... That being said, this is an fantastic macro and the soft feel makes him seem much less threatening. Well done!
