I think this would make a cool rock group logo.
What do you think?
"Rock Logo" was contructed with "Context Free", which makes everything you see from series of shape primatives that are placed in the x, y, and z axis via explicitely written program rules, a bit like PovRay. Use of the Z axis is more limited than what I would call a full 3D modeler, but once any "object" is defined by the unique "Context Free" code, it can be scaled, rotated, skewed or flipped across axis and can also be moved in the Z axis, which is much like a depth layer. It is the Z axis feature of Context Free that helps give the rope texture and under and over looping.

Way cool! And yeah, what a great tattoo this would be! Logo for a rock band is a great too, reminds me of Aerosmith's logo a little!
