A recurring character from a Hawkmoon campaign, a variant of the RPG Stormbringer, set in the “Tragic Millennium Earth” of Michael Moorcock’s novels. ““No one escapes the Dark Empire… Not for long,” the old man grumbled as he led them through the dank tunnel. “One man did!” Sabrae replied. “Hah! You don’t believe THAT tale… do you girl?” he shot back. “Why not,” she countered. “If it wasn’t true, why would they execute everyone who tells it?” The old man turned to face the pretty, young thief. “A sorcerer from another world, who escaped from Londra itself! A dragon in human form! Really girl! No man escapes the Dark Empire!” “I am no MAN!” Syn slid his hood back, revealing his Melnibonean features to the dim torch light. “I am a Dragon Lord of Melnibone… and the Dark Empire is not as inescapable as they would have you believe!” They both stared in shocked silence as Syn’s eyes blazed with sorcereous power. “Now lead on!” he commanded. The old man turned, his pace decidedly quicker, as he guided them through the maze of tunnels beneath the streets of Parye… and the boots of the Granbretan forces that occupied them.” A common thief before the fall of Parye, Sabrae’s knowledge of the underbelly of the “City of Light” allowed her to pray on the occupying forces with near impunity… much to the frustration of Granbretans. An orphan, surviving on her wits and stealth, she is not above using her charm and beauty to get what she wants, but despises the brutality of the Dark Empire, and tries to undermine them at every opportunity. Encountering Daeron Syn and his companions, Narmir and Victoria, while they try to slip through occupied Parye, Sabrae found herself drawn into the “Resistance”, when they learn that the children taken hostage by the Dark Empire were being used in the twisted experiments of the Granbretan sorcerer-scientist. Risking capture, and certain execution, they manage to free the children, and smuggle them out of the city to be hidden by resistance cells in the French countryside. Yes... I'm still alive!
