Description

This was a few feet over from where yesterday's post was taken from. Just a simple Birch tree with some berries growing wild in front of it. Thank you for taking the time to view and comment.

I think this is an exceptionally nice composition with wonderful lighting. Any brighter and it would loose the sense of bleakness and any darker would obscure the subtleties. This is an image I would be thrilled to have captured as well as you. It shows an artistic eye and a nice appreciation for the beauty of nature. We all edit our images according to our own set of guidelines and tools. As much as I like your image, I do see some aspects of it that I think would have tweaked in postwork to add a bit more clarity (especially to the foreground). I may have wound up with the cropping you did but my first attempts at that would have been to move the crop box an inch or so to the right so that the foreground limb was almost touching the left border. I think this would eliminate the rather empty space on the left and would have allowed more of the light from the skyline to add interest and depth to the right side. I think this would create a better overall balance to the image. I would have done as much selective sharpening to the foreground limbs and berries as possible. There are a number of methods to achieve this in postwork and it would take some playing around to find out which works best. I hope I have not overstepped my role as viewer but I really like this image and so I decided to give my honest opinion as to what I liked and what I thought might be worth considering. Thanks for sharing. Lee

I like this low lighting on this picture but in the screen of my boyfriend, I see only the berries and in mine, I see all... This composition is really good and I like the contrast between the red fruits and this tree texture ! Good day:)

I like Lee's ideas. I can see what he is saying and I agree with that. I might have gone a step further and taken the foreground berries and also lightened them a tiny bit. Still, this is an outstanding shot!
