Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

I love the brilliance of this image and the whole "you are there" aspect of it, mostly from the POV I think. The colors are amazing and crisp. The magenta glare around the lights just adds a wonderful splash of color! Great work!

Beautiful shot...I love soft jazz, I could listen to it all day long while driving, I would have loved to have seen this.

As a young teen, Galveston had some wonderful things on the beach during the warm months. There was a carnaval (on the sand!) and ice houses and bars and many were no more than driftwood-sided huts with gritty floors and low stools. It was a wonderful place to walk and gather and sun and drink and eat. A couple of the huts had bands that played - no cover charge to get in - some playing in the open air. I miss those days. They finally got tired of leaning walls up on the sand after storms and hurricanes, and never rebuilt. And the carnaval is long rusted and gone as well.

Jazz on the beach is the best jazz!!!

Terrific magenta ambiance in this lovely motif, Marilyn. I was going to make a joke about the guy up front blowing poison darts at the audience, but thought better of it.
