Description

When exploration drones are sent out, one expects a "drone" response, but sometimes what the machine records sings its beauty no matter how dispassionate the observer. When probe number A7321-FexpCo-3 began sending information, this first image brought our division to a standstill. You still find promotional materials that are meant to recruit colonists and researchers using this image. It serves to remind us that space will always be more fascinating, and more beautiful, than we can ever imagine on our own. -From the memoirs of exploration coordinator Francois Sangrien ----------------- I found myself playing in Photoshop while taking a break from packing. I fear this may be my last post for a while, as I'll be moving this weekend, and I'm not sure when/if I'll get internet access in my new home. Everything here was made by me, entirely within Photoshop. Thanks for taking a look, and comments/criticisms/advice/requests are always welcome. Take care during my absence, and hopefully I'll be back online soon! Dr O

Beautiful image M! Love the starfield and the colors you've chosen. Don't be away for far too long... Grab someone's laptop in an internet cafe just to throw a "Hi!" out there... =) Have a safe move, you'll be missed till you return~

Fantastic image and text...I am curious as well...have you heard of the Terran Trade Authority handbooks? They were out in the 1908s pretty much and made quite a splash. This image reminds me of that sort of work, which is also what partially inspired my own. Anyway, back to the image. THIS is fantastic, I love the sense of color and form, and the simplicity of the image...no overcomplications, nothing to detract from what's there and yeah, the planet is gorgeous, especially with the glowing nimbus that hints at a possible ring. Fantastic work, great writing!!!

And we ourselves are nought but alone. In the pathless tracks once measured out in the minds of men as spheres of celestial machinery, will any view with sorrow the eternal cinder which is our destiny? Huw Carr
