Greetings to the people of Earth.
I've always wanted to say that! Now that I did, I can now get on with other things.
I'm a science fiction writer (not famous yet) born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. I've lived in the Czech Republic and Germany, and though I am currently back in Chicago, much of my heart remains in the Czech Republic. Maybe it's the beer. Or the bread. I hope to live in Moscow soon, as a big portion of my heart already resides there. I've had an interest in science fiction since an early age and will probably maintain that interest for the rest of my life. I love SF, and anything else that embraces the spirit of discovery...or anything that chafes against the arbitrary boundaries of "conformity."Â
I discovered Renderosity a couple of years back when I was browsing the internet, looking for cool images to spark my imagination during a period of writer's block. It wasn't a serious block, but I needed something to make me ask the sorts of questions that I always ask before settling down to craft a short story or novella. Since that time, I've written quite a lot and I've begun to post photographs and other visual works that I created here...partially because I love the Renderosity community in general, and partially because the images and text-snippets that I have contributed here are something of an ongoing journal. I'm incredibly lazy when it comes to journal keeping, and so posting picures of particular significance actually helps me to remember the things I want to remembe, without having to eat into my fiction writing time by writing non fiction. Well, at least that's my excuse and I am sticking with it.
I entered into the field of photography totally by accident; I'd always been interested in capturing small stories, but it wasn't until my journey to Europe that I began to consciously seek out tableaus that imply stories in progress. As a result of that, my writing is growing in unexpected directions, and I look forward to becoming more and more active here, and in other artistic/publishing fields.

A wonderful capture, Chip. So like home to me. We have little wooden cobbles that put to sea to fish in Bay. I believe you have to keep carp alive in clear water for several days so the flesh does not taste Muddy when eating!! We too have a tradition of eating fresh fish at Christmas and new year. My Bay is a tiny fishing village. People will bring me dawn caught fish, I exchange my fresh baked mince pies. No money ever changes hands, just gifts. This is a wonderful work and your notes, a joy to read as always. Have the finest day, dear friend. Hugs. Di. xx

I too love the colors of the river...I also love to fish but I must admit, I've never heard of eating fish for Christmas so I learned something new today...smiles...I love reading your writings as much as I love looking at your pictures...I'm willing to bet that if one had the chance to look through your photo albums there would be so much to see...it would be like a mini journey through some of the most intriging, beautiful places in the world...a free vacation...beautiful capture Chip!

I love the contrast, and the color of the water, as well. Beautiful!

The colors struck me, too, grey and yet with life. The life of a fisherman looks lonely and difficult. Interesting words to match this pic. CC

Good shot Chip- the reason they keep carp in the bath tub for 48 hours is to give them a chance to filter out the mud, though I reckon they are also full of heavy metals in that neck of the woods. There's a lot of industrial waste that goes into that river. If you dont do that, the carp dont taste of much else otherwise! (mud, not heavy metals that is - I could cope with mud to be polite. Not sure about the cadmium and lead.)

Yeahhhhh, I'll pass on the bathtub carp too LOL nice pic Chip ! ~ Hugs ~

The color is amazing...like no other I've seen for water, at least without postworking it.:-) This feels so right and I'd love to share the Carp custom. I've never eaten Carp but I know many people who do.

It's really wonderful that so many people know exactly why they keep carp in the bathtub!! The color is so unique, and just the two boats on the water keep in simple and so very peaceful looking. This is one to be proud of, Chip, you really got a great shot here. And again, your stories just add to the overall beauty!!

It's a wonderful scene Chip!! I come from a seafaring family and grew up on the coast, and only 15 minutes away now. I also grew up on fish as my grandfather was a fish merchant! hugs Jane xx

I too love the water in this photo, Chip! A brilliant shot again! You are a master in capturing an atmosphere. You also will certainly learn to cook a carp if you want to. Better bake it though g If you need a recipe... ;-)
