Description
Turn left as you leave the slate mine and head off down the Honister Pass, you soon reach the small village of Buttermere.
Here, you can find one of the smallest churches I have ever seen. (Top left of the picture)
The whole place can't be that much bigger than my kitchen (though I must admit, my kitchen is big by modern standards) and has the smallest pipe organ I have seen. (bottom left)
Being similarly shaped to a shoe-box, it has a utilitarian feel. Even the windows are plain glass except for the one over the altar. (Right of picture)
Nonetheless, it is still a fascinating place to visit and it does take a pleasant picture.
Incidentally, even though you can't see very much of it, the background of the montage is a view of the lake which shares it's name with the village.
Apologies for the twee design but I was feeling a bit picture-postcardish when I made it. :-)
