Description

For Egmont aka CameraObscura2 Taranaki the volcanic cone in the distance has often been likened to Japan's Mt Fujiama and the hinterland around the mountain was used to film the movie "The Last Samurai". For more info on Taranaki http://wikitravel.org/en/Taranaki Taranaki was re-named Mt Egmont by Captain Cook but has officilly reverted to it's original name. I just discovered the excellent photography (on RR) of the man behind Cameraobscura2 and had to dedicate this shot accordingly.

Greetings Paul, Thank you so very much for your dedication and sharing with others here at RR the second tallest mountain in New Zealand. Captain Cook also named a deep yellow golden flower found in large numbers at the base of the mountain Egmont Buttercups. I was not aware that the movie"The Last Samurai" was shot in the area and now i will have to have another look. Have a wonderful weekend and thank you for sharing. egmont

This has a wonderful feel of Summer about it particularly when viewed from a cold and frosty UK. The mountain certainly has the look of Mount Fuji and your information is very interesting. Great Shot!!
