Description

This is a house in town that sits on a hill overlooking Main Street (yes, it's really Main Street!!). I don't know who lives here, but they put up these lights every year, I've always wanted to find out what they REALLY think about Christmas!!

The only sign of Christmas in my house, is a few unopened cards sat on the hall table. When I was a child none of the decorations were put up until Christmas Eve, my dad would come home with a big tree and we would all decorate it, then early to bed for me(I was the youngest of seven) because Santa wouldn't come whilst I was awake. I truly believe that Christmas has lost a lot of its true meaning and that more than half of the people see it just has a wild party and presents time. This year my wife and daughter are doing something they have both wanted to do for years and years, they are going down to the Salvation Army to serve food to the homeless. Leaving me at home to cook the dinner(to play on my computer) and have it ready for when they come home. I must admit, I am always saying Bah! Humbug! at this time of year. Excellent capture Marylyn, I should knock on the door and tell him some of his bulbs have blown and its not bright enough. Then you can ask what he really thinks about Christmas.lol Bravo!!!!!

Probably just that - Great capture, and I remember when I was a child if my Dad was home from sea at Christmas he would always read this story to us every year. hugs Jane xx

I knew Jeff and I were separated at birth! LOL! This is a great shot. I love the ambiguity of it all. Thanks for getting this for us!

I'm with Frankie on this one, I tend to think and say that quite a lot, though I haven't had to while here in Prague...Christmas stuff didn't go up until the beginning of this month, and it's all be subtle...except in Wenceslas Square, but NOTHING is ever subtle there! Sometimes I think that the whole "bah, humbug" thing is just a protest against "mass produced ugliness" as Olive Oyl (played by Shelly Duval) declared in the version of Popeye featuring Robin Williams. Well, I don't think of Christmas as being a load of mass produced ugliness, but one does have to wonder about those life sized singing Santas! This is a great image; it makes me giggle.

You rang? I could have sworn you mentioned Scrooge in your narrative. I love this shot, and congratulate the individual who had the gumption to erect that display. But, unless he ran out of lights, he did forget the BAH in all this. Sorry to break this to you at this time of the year, Marilyn, but Christmas is not my cup of tea.
