Description
"Cary Grant" was produced from a custom heightfield map designed in Paint Shop Pro, translated to a .ter file using the Heightfield Toolkit, and final rendered in Terragen 8.4
THESE IMAGES ARE NOT OVERLAYS PROJECTED ONTO FLAT TERRAIN. THEY ARE 3-DIMENSIONAL, PURE TERRAGEN TERRAINS. NO FILTERS- NO TRICKS- NO TWEAKS.
Your views and "constructive" comments are always welcome.

Nicely done and an interesting use of Terragen

Very inventive ... I approve of the subject matter as well. Definitely a refreshing diversion from the usual imagery found on this site.

There is nothing to prohibit anyone from posting a “portrait” style image made with Terragen. Whether or not our members approve is immaterial. Several years ago, another artist routinely posted works here that were similar to this, although I suspect that they were done with a simple overlay. If, as you claim, a heightfield was implemented and no overlays used, there must be some very intricate work done with texture masks within the program to get the features to look like this. However, Terragen is “traditionally” used to create terrain-like images. If you are soliciting constructive comments, it would be difficult to offer one, since there are no features evident that are usually associated with a Terragen-generated image. One could at least say that this is a unique application of the program.
