Description
My first attempt at a photo manipulation/matte painting kind of thing!
3 photos i took myself at Blackgang Chine on the I.O.W. plus a bit from one of my bryce renders for the castle and lots of filters, layers and custom brushes in photoshop.
Be brutal!!(if you want to!)
Thanks and enjoy

Fantastic work and excellent scene ! Good day :)

It's a good effect, especially with the sepia style. The distance blur might be too strong though, it almost emphasises to the uninitiated that it was Photoshopped.

Well to be brutally honest....it's fantastic! Love the mood and POV. Splendid work!!

Splendid, but you asked for a critique so here goes, The foreground is perfect, the castle hs just the right amount of haze but 2 thing stick out as a bit wrong- The close planet seems to have come from a lowrez source - I know its supposedto be hazy but you can still tell. The other is the feild in front of the castle - it is too smooth so it seems it was a virtual feild surrounded by real ones. I hope that helps, I prefer not to be critical but you did ask.

I like the color tones and the atmosphere.

Something a little different - always a good thing! I really like it as its shows flair and I like the overall tone: one of mystery! Te grey landscape and the castle lend a 'Lord of the Rings' feel to this. After reading ThomasMacCallum's post I can't help but notice the larger planet now! Perhaps remove this larger planet and see how it looks? Any scene with two suns is alright by me! Well done!

All your images look fantastic, that's how you got on my favorites list. If you're looking for criticism here are my thoughts that you can consider or discard: If you do want this to work as a matte painting, it would be interesting to see the composition with actors (even if it were V3 or M3) to see how you plan to incorporate the live footage. Right now, I'm not sure where the people go. Two suns and there's still not enough bounce light coming off the objects they're shining on to illuminate the shadow side? Maybe its an exposure balance that would over-expose the sky if the levels were high enough. In that regard, your actors faces won't be lit (as you will want to match the lighting on them) and the focus is all being pulled into the distance (by the suns) when I would think you would want it in the foreground. All statements made when I don't know what the scene requires. If you were going to do a real matte painting that had animated footage in front of it, you wouldn't want to paint-in the sun-flaring over the landscape as it would tip your hand that it was a still image. Better to keep the flare dynamic so it can react, especially if an actor were to pass in front of the sun. Those are my intitial thoughts without any intention of brutality. ; )

Great job for a first try. The high contrast hides a lot of the detail in the foreground, and I agree that there is a resolution issue with the planet obj's. Different resolutions, simple notation that they're there would work fine. Again, Super start. Have you looked at (mattepainting.org)?

It's a photo based picture, wow it just looks terrrificly good, i really love this dark and heavy mood, but i think some more shadws on vegetal should have been really useful for a better realist looking. Congratulations!
