Realistic, with a wonderful and artistic "sea mood" via lighting, coloring, and wave effects that makes this 1st class art and a wonder to view! Excellent artwork Ken!!!

WOW! This is just amazing.

Excellent depiction of a storm at sea however for those conditions the ship is heavily over canvassed. Any Master worth his salt would have struck down the Royals and the T'gallants long since. The big problem in this sort of weather is to prevent broaching whereby the stern of the vessel is brought around by a following sea and the vessel then ends up broadside to the wind. The vessel is then knocked down with the force of the wind on the many sails. A classic example of this in modern times was the Fastnet race in the 1980's when a large number of racing yachts were lost due to the fact they were carrying too much canvas for the conditions. Patrick O'Brian an acclaimed author who wrote about times in Nelson's Royal Navy, and was an excellent yachtsman himself, gave an excellent example of the consequences of ignoring the risks in his novel "Desolation Island". Quite a lot of Windjammers were lost this way when running under ballast only. I am not taking away from your picture which as I have said is excellent it is just to give you an idea as to how these ships were sailed.

Epic!

Superb sea - one of the best I've seen!! I just bought the Sea Vue pack yesterday, though it'll be a long time before I get even close to this. The whole mood of the scene has been well captured too - cold, grey and lonely - typical conditions in the Atlantic in December!
