Description

Ok, before you scroll down and look at my friend, I have to tell you how we met! We were sitting at this off the road rest stop while travelling, we had just finished having something to eat, the food was still out on the table along with our drinks and other stuff, my camera and camera bag etc...Andrew decides he needs to go the loo for a number 2, sorry if thats too much info, but you guys know what its like when you just get settled on there...anyway, I decided to get some pics of the surrounding bush and road trains as they were cruising on past, engrossed in taking my pics, I heard this noise like foot steps behind me and thinking it was Andrew, I turned my head and looked over my shoulder....and got the biggest fright ever! Here was this emu looking me straight in the eye a whisker from my face! I screamed, Andrew came running out of the loo to see me trying to get pics of this emu while trying to save the food and shaking so much from fright, all he could do was laugh while my emu friend was chasing me around after the loaf of bread I had in my hand....Now I'm about 5 foot 7 and this guy is just still a baby, probably turfed out by mum to go batching on his own. He sure knew where to get a feed from and I dont think I'm the first person that he has crept up on! Looking back now, it was one of those you just had to be there moments!

LOL! What a great story! I love it that you got this picture, despite everything else that was going on. The mark of a true photographer, I think! Awesome capture. (I hope that when they pry the camera from my cold, dead fingers, the last couple of shots were totally worth it!) :)

You do not very often have a camera handy for one of a kind moments. Yours must be velcroed to your hand because if it was mee looking this guy in the face probably everything would have gone flying. LOL You should have thrown the bread down for him. Great shot.

LOL, Jock!!! I hope Andrew got his drawers up too!!! What a picture THAT would have made, huh? This one is too wonderful! He is just a baby, you can see the "pin feathers" still all over! And already he's learned to steal!! I wish I'd have been there to see it all happen!! Yup .. that's a true photographer, never let that camera out of your hands! I've missed some really good shots just because I decided not to take my camera, or had it in one room while I was in another and missed yet another good capture! Oh my, I'm still giggling!!
