Hi, I'm Marilyn.  I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile.  It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here.  I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends.  Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time.  Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!!  Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet.  You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long.  Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Funny Marilyn very funny, I have not heard that for soooo long a song by Sheb Wooley and it went like this: Lyrics to Purple People Eater by Sheb Wooley Well I saw the thing comin' out of the sky It had the one long horn, one big eye. I commenced to shakin' and I said "ooh-eee" It looks like a purple people eater to me. It was a one-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater. (one-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater) A one-eyed one-horned, flyin' puple people eater Sure looks stange to me. (one eye?) Well he came down to earth and lit in a tree I said Mr. Purple People Eater don't eat me I heard him say in a voice so gruff I wouldn't eat you cuz you're so tough It was a one-eyed, one-horned flyin' purple people eater one-eyed, one-horned flyin' purple people eater one-eyed, one-horned flyin' purple people eater Sure looks strange to me. (one horn?) I said Mr. Purple People Eater, what's your line He said it's eatin' purple people and it sure is fine But that's not the reason that I came to land I wanna get a job in a rock and roll band Well bless my soul, rock and roll, flying purple people eater. Pidgeon-toed, undergrowed, flyin' purple people eater (we wear short shorts) Flyin' purple people eater sure looks strange to me. And then he swung from the tree and lit on the ground. He started to rock, really rockin' around It was a crazy little ditty with a swingin' tune (sing aboop boop aboopa lopa lum bam boom) Well, bless my soul, rock and roll flyin' purple people eater. Pigeon-toed, undergrowed, flyin' purple peopleeater. Flyin' little people eater Sure looks strange to me. (purple people?) And then he went on his way, and then what do you know. I saw him last night on a TV show. He was blowing it out, a'really knockin' em dead Playin' rock and roll music through the horn in his head (clarinet solo) ( Tequila) The Purple People Eater was the #1 song for 6 weeks in 1958and the #24 song of the 1955-1959 rock era. It sold over 3 million records and received a Gold Record within 3 weeks after it was released. And over 100 Million Copies Overall!!! So you see, he only ate purple people. Fantastic capture Marilyn and that title fits to a 'T'. Bravo!!!!!5+++++

I remember that song and always found it funny. Now you have materialized it! LOL! This purple people eater looks menacing!! :) Great find and great shot!!

They must have been hurting for music in 1958? Todd

Wha? Where did JeffG7BRJ get the words to that very long song? Had to be either from sheet music or he's an expert at shorthand. Lots of color and subject matter in this fine capture, Marilyn. Okay, I see in this arcane sculpture a velociraptor with purple human legs and horn, and almost square wings that could also be employed as shields.

Too confusing for me..:) I just like what you did with the image...
delaorden_ojeda

This is an awesome photograph, and I was thinking of what sort of place could be built if this artist collaborated with the guy who designed the Cross Club in Prague...but anyway, back to THIS shot. I love the sense of color and the strangely abstract quality of the creature that you've captured. It's fantastic work, beautifully presented.
alhak
unusual garden ornament...sinister in a way...great shot
mamabobbijo
Great capture, I thought they were extinct! Thanks for the memory, my Mom threatened to take a hammer to the radio if we played it one more time!
