Description
I made this for myself thought I would share it with you all. I was helping a young child with some of his social studies when I realized that alot of americans over look at least 3 of the 4 american icons in this picture. Most of us remember the flag. But alot of people over look the eagle the bison and as represented as the ground in this picture the american great plains. I printed this out for the student my nephews report. I thought you all might enjoy this as much as did creating it. all comments welcome both
critical and non-crictal. Thanks for viewing

Sorry to have a negative view of this but.....There are a few Some scholars that argue that the extermination of the buffalo was an official policy of the US government in order to achieve extermination of the Native Americans. Do they teach that in social studies? Eagle, fair enough. Supposedly Ben Franklin wanted the wild turkey to be the origional 'icon'.....Just a thought....

no worries this comp came together from just a thought many things i nthe world today came from a simple thought. If all this did was get one person to think and to express their point of view then I would have to say that it did its job. merry christmas to you all.

Fantastic artwork!!!! Being half American Indian should say how I feel. Nuff said on politics. @TRIPD..Teddy Roosevelt wanted the grizzly bear to be the national icon..still like the eagle better. Again, wonderful work!!!

@turner Actually the Bison extermination thing was more likely the work of uncaring profiteers, and a government well-bribed to look the other way. Hide merchants and would-be cattle ranchers saw to that. We had a well equipped cavalry to do the "crowd control". Can you spell G-A-T-L-I-N-G G-U-N? Genocide is best defined as "unilateral co-existence". We didn't invent it. We just mimicked our predecessors through the ages. And don't even get me started on the whole "Smallpox-infected blankets" thing. Improbable if ingenious, and insidious. I've eaten Bison. I prefer it to most cuts of beef. Never tried Eagle. Betcha ol' Ben never did either. He was an inventor, not a hunter. Great images...I love my country. Hope we get it back someday.
