California dreamin' on such a winter's day!

These California Poppies were growing in a bed in the parking lot next to my office. Nobody would have cared if they HAD seen me taking this shot! Sorry. Some days are just dull, my friends. :)
When I was a kid, my grandparents had these everywhere, and I've always loved them.
This is another shot from last August. There's nothing to see here at this time of year, unless you like grey skies and rain and sodden vegetation.

Terrific POV, clarity, colors and textural effects in this shot of one of my favorite flowers. If there were some growing nearby I would photograph them endlessly. And, the poppy is the state flower of California. Come to think of it, didn't Dorothy, Toto, the Lion, Tin man and Scarecrow run through a field of poppies on their way to Oz?

I love them too and planted them in two spots in the backyard. They are now popping up in every spot in the backyard! They have millions of seeds that shoot everywhere when the pods are ripe. Still, how can you get upset with them when they are so very lovely? excellent capture.

The only poppies I know a very red and almost impossible to take a photo of them. Yours, on the other hand, look just great!

California dreamin is becomin a reality--I've read that when the very first people came into San Francisco Bay, they thought the hills were made of gold because they were covered in poppies!! The little pops of color that bring some beauty on such a winter's day!!
