Description

Christmas Eve afternoon, my kitchen. Michelle (my new sister in law) and I were hard at work baking, cooking, talking, laughing. She was making her decadent, over the top chocolate cheesecake. Somehow, a lot of the butter melted and spilled out to the bottom of the oven and filled the house with smoke. We had to open every door and window, dang near froze, but finally could breathe again. I took this when it was at its worse, she turned around and said, "Why are you taking a picture of THIS???!" Well, duh, WE know, don't we??? BTW, we now call her creation Smoked Chocolate Cheesecake!! (No one turned it down!!) It's these kinds of times that make Christmas what it is--- funny moments, dumb mistakes, and as much love and laughter as you can take!!!

Good heavens, I do believe you captured the image of a ghost or spirit in this remarkable shot, Marilyn! In the movie, The Invisible Man, the authorities used smoke to help hunt down and reveal their unseen prey. And, smoke not only affects the eyes, but also the mouth, nose and lungs. Cough, cough! Incidentally, considering the precedent set by all the pre and post Christmas carryings-on, I don't believe it's too early to say Happy Halloween.

I had to smile at this. I usually do the same thing any time I use my oven. And I never seem to notice the house is full of smoke until it is REALLY full of smoke. :-) Sounds as if you had a marvelous time and made some fabulous memories.
