Those who remember the 39-45 war will remember the blackout curtains. My Mum hated making them so she sewed bands of ric-rac braid on each one above the hem. My Gran swore that they could be seen from the air.......we had that coloured ric-rac braid sewn on everything to brighten up our lives.
