Description
And now, the final shot from my Lake District series.
This house has long been a source of fascination for me. It is in a an area of the Lakes known as Stair.
One of the older waitresses in the hotel I stayed at told us that it used to be a place everyone used to call in on and was always full of laughter. The people who lived there had a son who was, I'm told, very good looking, charming and full of fun.
Sadly, he was killed during the war and his parents never got over it hence the rather derelict look of the place these days.
Personally, I think that it is a purely 'local legend' story.
The house is still occupied but, nonetheless, has that look about it of past glory and sadness.
It is also exactly the sort of house I would love to live in. :-)
This shot was taken on my last trip to the lakes and, sadly, circumstances have prevented me going again for the past two years but, one day, I'm sure I'll return.

I bet this is something to see in color... Not nearly as moody and appealing I bet. This is great. No front yard to mow, no backyard garden to fertilize...just breath deep the clean air and hope no one drive a little too face and doesn't make that curve...

Definitely suits sepia!

Wonderful!!!!!

Nice house but it was such a shame being next to a through road. The colours of the house, which you can't see here, if memory serves, was purple in some places. I too am sad and homesick of the surrounding areas.

artaddict2 - Stair is only about 0.75 miles West of Derwent Water. A map in case you ever return and fancy a look. :-)
