Description

This is one of the first portraits of my grandson Nicolas, then only aged of 8 days! This summer my wife Marie-Therese (mtc at Renderosity) and me fand this outfit. We considered that it would be great to buy it because this little boy (then simply called "Junior") would be born for December 15th (in fact he was born just one day later, LOL), so he could make a cute little Santa Claus… however we did not know that his name would be Nicolas! Then for Christmas we offered him the little wooden train that you see underneath.

Techdata for the portrait: Nikon D70 with Nikkor 1,8/50 at full aperture, 1/10s hand-held, ISO 800, artificial light balance. Important postwork in Photoshop CS3 Extended: colorization of the hat with a Fill Layer in Hue mode, color correction with a Photo Filter Layer, sharpening of the eyes, nostrils and mouth with the Sharpener Tool (with this newborn baby, you cannot use flash, he must be kept in dim light for most of the time, therefore you have to use a high ISO setting, a fast lens at full aperture, and a slow shutter speed, i.e. far from good photo conditions).

Congrats Grandpa!! Beautiful child! I have a grandchild too, turned a year old a couple of weeks ago. Can't guess how proud grandparents would act, huh?
