Description

down to see the family for Christmas. Rather than drive and deal with lunatics, I took the Greyhound Bus there and back. Most everywhere, it's known as Riding the Dog. if you live on the flatlands, it's known as Riding The Prairie Dog (another name for the Richardson's Ground Squirrel, or Gopher). it's morning, the sun has just broken the horizon behind me, setting the sky aflame with a cold, winter fire. I look out on the endless horizons spread before me, no cities, or mountains.... no clutter, no junk,.... just an endless no end of serenity. Born and Raised on the Flat, the Prairies beckon me home, call to my heart as a long lost over, though I know she's never been lost. End of the visit, back on the dog, short trip to where I live and work..... let someone else do the driving..... I have too much to look at, don't need the distractions. comments welcome, please enjoy!

looks like west Texas with nothing but open spaces.I never take the dog but it is an alternate way to go.

I like this kind of highways, wide and open. Here in VN I almost get claustrophobic ;-)

Ah yes, the Beatles song 'long and winding road' comes to mind...but let's re-phrase that, long and straight road ! I really like the soft morning colours and slightly blurred look, just like when you wake from a short nap on the "prairie dog" ! Great capture & BIG CHEERS 2008

Its good to live where you are most comfortable. For me it's the Mojave desert. Nice trip. I was on a train across America to the east coast a few weeks ago and Texas is 1000 miles of much of what this looks like.

We call it the hound and it's a really interesting way to travel, just exactly where are you? Great POV, gives the feeling of a road that never ends!!
