My name is Tony Shaw and I have been working for a UK Bank since I left school in 1983. I have spent from 1990 working in their IT department as a software developer. With the threat of redundancy hanging over me next year, and having written a web-site for my Dad, I decided to train myself up in web and graphic design and as a result found Renderosity.
The graphic tools I'm using in my spare time are Adobe Photoshop, Bryce, Apophysis, Terragen and Vue ... I don't have any particular favourite as they all have their good and bad points.
I have not posted some of my very early works as they are quite basic and would not look out of place in comics, however I hope you will take time to browse through my gallery so far and any comments, whether good or bad will be greatly received as they will keep me motivated and hopefully improve my designs.
Happy rendering.

I've wanted to go back to some earlier work to see what you've done, and your fractals are quite splendid. I must say, Renderosity has shown that fractals can be among the truly exquisite forms of digital art. At first, this appears to be a big bubbling pot; but, typical of the other work of yours that I've seen, you've filled it with a huge amount of detail. The 'main' ring of bubbles (the gold-reddish one) has bands filled with smaller orbs, as if this were a big colony of orb within orb (certainly one of the original ideas behind fractals—i.e., world within world), and here they're packed in so richly they appear to be organisms cramped together in a domicile. The big ring is surrounded by many little ones—we get the sense this pattern goes on well beyond the frame—and they too have smaller orbs undulating in their bands. It's a packed set of colonies, where the orbs are detailed with spores, growths and all kinds of other organic 'stuff'. As for light, even the outer rings have dabs of golden highlight on them: They appear, in spots, to be some kind of burnished brass or tarnished silver. It's metallic but very golden, very rich and very tactile; and while chocolate is one of the things I sense, there's a lot else too, much of it nameless because it's life re-conceived. Alive, sensuous and opulent. A beautiful piece of fractal design, and art.
