Inspired by a text-based game I play. I want them to look big, but I don't want the haze washing out the whole image. Anyway I could do that short of actually enlarging the mesh?

Great image. I'd like to know the name of that game :) To answer your question, try making a second copy of the mountain plains, and giving the copy the haze texture you are using. Then go to the materials editor and give the copy a slightly different terrain than the first, making it poke out in some places and not in others. Your question wasn't too clear but I hope I helped :)

It would be useful to put something in to give a sence of perspective. A few trees to scale at the bottom perhaps.

Make it a complete scene with some protagonic characters. Tell a story.
