Description
Seen above Inverness airport these clouds are formed when strong South Westerly winds cross the mountain ranges. They show areas of excellent lift for gliders which can reach around 12,000 feet.Gliders have used wave lift to fly from North Scotland to France.
The white aircraft is a Short 360 built in Belfast used to ferry Xmas mail to Fairyfreak in Stornoway.
