Description

Now that voting on the genre challenge has closed I can finally show you all this image - and show it to you the way I would have posted it if not for the challenge stipulation that there should be as little postwork as possible. The Urban/Cityscape genre is usually not my fare, but I knew this building when it was still "alive", so I just had to take a few shots of it in its current state, once I came about it very much by coincidence. It pretty much shows what makes the urban landscape interesting to me - it grows, changes, evolves, and sometimes it dies, just like a natural landscape. We may grow used to certain features of a city, but there is always change around us, even in the places we take for granted. It's not what I often capture with my camera, but it still is on my mind some times. thumb_1587840.jpg thumb_1584354.jpg

Very interesting composition! Never did get to vote, we couldn't find the 'sticky' whatever that is.

I must confess that these artificial structures appeal less to me than those of branches and twigs on some other recent photos of yours. But at least I can see and appreciate the parallel. :-) Moreover I share your feelings about urban landscapes. It shows in the Poser content I have been buying, which I obviously plan to use... Drifting away: I happen to live on a spot that has changed through the years. 1984 I was among the first inhabitants of this block. 1983 Living opposite, I looked out over an area of sand. 1973 I visited the shipyard here that was full of life. 1877? The shipyard was the first building on agricultural land. 1850s A shallow bay was reclaimed from the sea and put to use for farming. 1175? I assume that the then moor was washed away by the wind-driven floods that made the people more inland build a dam in the river Amstel and thus found the city of Amsterdam (NL).
