Description
Okay, I am walking on air! I received a wonderful New Year surprise. I made this image to be put up in my gallery as a Christmas image for all of you. It is probably the easiet image I have ever done, it seemed to create itself with no postwork needed. On a whim, I entered it into the Christmas Contest. Never in my wildest dreams did I think it would win anything. It was fun, since I never entered anything before in any contest. Well, I was overcome when it won a place! Incredible! There were so any great images submitted and all the artists did fantastic work. I want to thank those wonderful people who voted for my image I am so appreciative and honored. Thank you. :o)

When I was a little girl I would try to stay up and wait for Santa Claus, alas, the excitement and anticipation would take it's toll and I would fall asleep as I watched the gently falling snow from my window, it always seemed to snow on Christmas Eve, or maybe that's how I remember it. Eyes watching the sky through the snow for the Big Kahuna dressed in a red velvet suit and driving a sleigh with reindeer and a bag full of goodies.
I would wake up the next morning, usually at the ungodly hour of five or six a.m. (To my parents chargin) disappointed I had once again missed him by falling asleep, but I knew he had come, because the cookies, milk and carrots for Santa and the reindeer were gone, a note of thanks, telling me they were delicious. And at the end of my bed was a new bear with a bright ribbon smiling at me. This ritual would go on for years. I would fall asleep watching for the Man in the red suit and when I woke I would have a wonderful new bear to name. This was one of the Christmas Traditions in my family, that followed me into my own family and child. Even now, I'll give a bear a home on Christmas, but somehow it's not the same as when the Big Guy came in his red velvet suit and sleigh and reindeer, when snow fell on Christmas Eve. :o)

It deserved to win a place, it should have won first place! Such a sweet and tender childhood memory, remembered so beautifully! I love Teddy Bears, and have some of my own. I believe everyone should have one, and have given many as gifts to good homes! Merry Christmas belatedly, and I hope the Big Kahuna was good to you, again.
