Description

Ok a bit of whimsy; very much a "what if" kind of deal. Maybe a little weird:) As most of you are well aware, I do a lot of Native American inspired horse art; but I got thinking what if the Masai tribe of Kenya also decorated their horses as many of the Native Americans did? So this is what I came up with based on traditional Masai tribal ornamentation and my visit to Botswana whwre I was introduced to to so-called aboriginal "dot painting"(which wherever it started, was alive and well in Zambia:) It was a fun and challenging piece to work on (especially since I really should really have been *working*:) Hope you enjoy! Production notes: Hours and hours on a totally custom tex map using tribal ornamentation. Rendered in Bryce 6 (yes Bryce 6! I finally have my new MacPro beast:) Lots and lots of postwork with a Wacom Intuos 3 tablet in PS CS. Dankie!

This is indeed stunning! The attention to detail is unlike anything I have seen to date. Weren't the Masai decendants of Niotic people from Lake Turkana? I believe they were considered to be ruthless conquerors who invaded other tribes, took their lands and cattle. This took place about 10 centuries ago. I am hoping my memory serves me right.

Sakes, but this is just flat out GORGEOUS! Extremely impressive piece, and so intricately detailed that it really defies words. You've outdone yourself with this one, and I see nothing weird about it--only a truly beautiful piece of artwork, that obviously took a lot of time and loving attention to do! BRAVO!

Well this is definetly another master piece as far as I am concerned. Unfortunatly I think horses tend to have great problems in those parts of africa due to the tse tse fly. I hope you will frogive my nidpicking, it was not meant to distract from the art itself.

Now this is what you would call: ART. Plain and simple. Ive recently been reading a book by Graham Hancock which shows in detail some of the rock art in the caves around the globe. Your hourse's textures look quite identical to the San and other African tribe rock-art. Great attention to detail here! Very well done and I hope to see more soon! ;-) 5star!

Your ponies always steal my heart, and this one is no exception! I love all of the details you put into your designs. My sister lives in Masai country, and she shares photos of people who still wear beading and red ochre in their hair. What a beautiful cultural tribute you have created here! Thanks so much for sharing this with us here! Hugs, Cat

The work you did on the texture is jaw dropping, nice close up of the horse.
