Description

This is the twin arched packhorse bridge at Wycoller, may have originated around 13th century. Over the years it has been adapted by the local people for carrying goods. The bridge is not falling over as its precarious appearance suggests but has withstood constant use and floods over the centuries. Here the bridge is also known as Sallys bridge after Sally Owen, mother of the last Squire Henry. Credits for the narative taken from a Lancashire County Council information leaflet.

Excellent picture. It is amazing it has not just crumbled. Nothing built today would stand so long! Todd
