Without life there is no imagination, and without thought progress is stunted. I simply do not understand how the mindless greed of the "gun-lobby" in the States isn't brought down to earth by the sensible majority.

When the Founding Fathers talked about the Right to Bear Arms they were thinking of raising a local militia from a group of farmers. Its a long way from that to the organized gang murders in the inner city. As usual it doesn't bother the power brokers in the safe, secluded suburbs, just the underclass that uses and deals in the drugs and guns their agencies sell.

Oh! Oh! I don't agree with Bost! What about all the crazy people who kill because they have a gun or a knife? But with a knife it's more difficult to kill a lot of innocent people in a few minutes! Remember "Bowling for Colombine". I don't know people around me who have guns or riffles ( in France ). And I'm not very "friend" with hunters....Last week, a young french ( 20 years old ) has been killed in his car by a hunter... who shot more than one mile away. Thanks, Figaro, for this pict.

I suppose guns make some people feel all powerful, but I think they make us weaker. They're often used as substitutes for debate, argument & persuasion. I hope you found this post interesting.
