Description

Please view full size. This was taken at the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden, Colorado. This early diesel engine powered trains through the rockies. I edited the original photo with CaptureNx and Paint Shop Pro XI. Most the effects were created by PSP.

Great picture! Something about those trains from the 30's-50's, they had character.

A neat image. Close to what I used as a template for a 3d model I made just recently. This represents a great era of train travel!

In the little town I grew up in no EMD diesels replaced the steam at teh station as passenger service was lost. Only a switcher came. Driving through Canada to my grandfathers on holiday only steam occupied the Canadian National tracks. Maybe I saw one on the trestle hauling shale to the cement plant my other grandfather worked at. I recognize this from Sears and Montgomery -Ward catalogs at Christmas time. Probably I first saw it in my uncle's basement in American Flyer guage. Have you been to Pueblo to the Liberator museum to see the DOT research locomotives? I saw AC there on the mainline all painted up as a demo.
