Description

Here we see the math aid who works on trim with an engine for a tightly cowled application. Pilots have demonstrated you can loop a B-52 if it is trimmed right. In the engine business this is a bit hypothetical. The airfoils are all hard profiles with no moving surfaces. There are interstage bleeds and variable guide vanes that can compensate a bit for flow discrepancies but fo trim you have to believe in the "scope." Automobile tune-ups had been implemented through service technicians who believed they could diagnose any problem by looking at a trace on an oscilloscope. The company had made a bet on an ignition company. They had bought a microprocessor company. Now it was time to show that erosion of airfoil profiles could be compensated electronically. It was a big effort. A somewhat tall young lady sat beside me working on trim curves and every now and then I would notice her absent-mindedly touching the top of my hand as she deligently worked her problems. Later, she introduced me to her closest colleague who had just changed her last name to that of what I was to find was an English monk who advised nuns. Earlier I had worked with a secretary who would touch my knee when she drove me home in her van when my wife did not pick me up after work. We worked together doing triage on leftover AWACS documents. She loved the PENVAL reports on Advanced Penetration Techniques. She owned a bar with her husband. The math aid in this image has not put her shoes on yet when I picked her up at her house to take her to see the new software licensing program for DIGITAL. She had just finished putting in her earrings. She lived right behind the police station where the house across the street was burglarized the previous week.
