Renderosity has opened a whole new world to me, its a fantastic place and have had some brilliant support from many new friends.  I retired from work very early through ill health so I took to photography from the very basics.
Ă‚Â Since joining I have grown in confidence with my photography and I now think because of RRĂ‚Â that I take it a little more seriously.Ă‚Â I started offĂ‚Â here using a Fuji Finepix 6500fd, it took some great pictures but I'm hooked now soĂ‚Â I have now(April 2008) bought a DSLRĂ‚Â SAMSUNG DX10 and having fun learning the settings etc. ( these things take me a while lol)Ă‚Â
I am so fortunate to be with a wonderful person in my life, Sylvia. She is not just my partner but of course she's also my best friend. Previously I have been married but seperated a few years ago and have two fantastic children.Ă‚Â IĂ‚Â NOW have two fantastic grandchildren !!!
My interests are photography, i have had a dabble at Acrylic painting, and I enjoy long walks out in the countryside.Ă‚Â Ă‚Â Ă‚Â Ă‚Â Ă‚Â Ă‚Â I also have an interest in anything historical.Ă‚Â Ă‚Â I want to have a sample of just about everything there is in photography, who knows what the future holds!
Thanks for calling by.Ă‚Â Ă‚Â Ă‚Â Ă‚Â Alan

excellent capture and not a pretty idea for detention.at least if this is for feet, one could at least use their hands to block the food and wipe off what they missed.maybe even eat some if they got hungry enough

Great capture Alan, I've not seen these, although there used to be some at the top of church steps(St Chads) Rochdale. Am I seeing things, or is that a couple of chickens in the background? Well spotted. Bravo!!!!!

Excellent picture. What goes in those holes, your ankles are you neck? Either way it can't be comfortable! That poor guy who was drunk, got it pretty hard. Heck there is not a enough land in Texas to build all the stock you would need to put all the drunks here on any given Saturday night, in Dallas!.... :) Todd

The only place I have seen old stocks here was in Salem when I was a child. I haven't seen any quite like this even in books. Very nice shot.

In a little town called Bourtange in the Netherlands in the middle of the town they have similar stocks only that one is on a pole. The town is looking now as it was a few hundred years ago. They also have a horse made of wood with a sharp metal back in a V shape; the prisoner was sitting on that horse with stones or lead on his legs. I don’t think he walked far when he was released. Beautiful capture, well done!
