Description
I had pictures of this Holly in my back yard I took in the daylight, but didn't like the background that came through. So I remembered reading how Mick took a picture of something at night to fix something he was having problems with, so I did the same. Last night I put my camera on my tripod and used a flashlight to focus.
I cropped, bordered and used a lens effect to magnify some berries.
You Magnify the picture for a real close view!.. :)

This is lovely, and I am fascinated by your holly as it is so different from the holly that grows here and in the UK. Do you know the variety?

Wow I was thinking of doing something similar with my animal pics Todd LOL As yet I have found it difficult to hold the magnifying glass in one hand then the camera in the other infront of one of my cats Ha ha! You have done really well here, it is an excellent shot with the magnified area creating added interest - a fave for me - hugs Jane xx

they are beautiful to look at but I hate holly. back when I was working and people had it by windows.it is flat mean stuff.I had to cover with drops to avoid the pointed leafs and still it would stick through

What a superb photograph! Love the lighting, and how the berries are so vibrant and lovely! I think the effect created through the magnifying glass is a really neat idea and works really well with the subject.....they look good enough to eat for sure, but that might not be such a good idea :P The colours work so well together as well.... Hahah doh i think i need glasses when i first saw this image i thought that was a magnifying glass lol, it took a while to realize you magnified it lol excellent idea works really well. Love the detail and colours.
