Description

Nikon 7900 pocket camera - hand held image. This is the same species of spider as yesterdays' posting was but it is of a different individual. This one even has all her legs, lol. She is guarding her egg case and will do so for up to a couple of months after it's construction. During that time, I have never seen one take food and they seldom get more than a leg span away from the case. This egg case hatched out and as was the case with yesterday's posting, I have not seen her since this photo was taken. This image really shows the red veining in her head (which I mentioned in yesterdays posting) and the red "sweater" she has grown for the cold weather. In the spring and summer, they are all green. They are very interesting spiders and are excellent hunters. They do not use webbing to capture or wrap up the unlucky critters which get too close. She just jumps on them, lol. Every year I find dozens of them scattered through out the Goldenrod patches that I let grow up. For those interested in an update on the house project, the materials I recently ordered arrived this morning, as did the laborers I hired. We managed to get all the materials into the building and distributed around the various rooms. I also managed to not overdo anything and as a result, I can still stand up also. WooHoo !! WooHoo !! LOL. The real test will be tomorrow morning. If I can still stand up then, I will be able to start installing stuff. If not, then I will have to wait till I can, lol. Thanks to those who find the time to comment. Lee

Well, first of all Wow, what a fantastic shot of the spider! I am scared of spiders but NOT of this one, she is BEAUTIFUL. I never seen a spider like this, I would not run away and scream if I would see her in my Garden. Thank you so much for sharing. It shows that all creatures are beautiful in their own ways. She certainly is a beauty!!!

The red veining seems more pronounced in this one Lee and the head looks almost translucent, another cracking image. As for the building, I have just had my bathroom ripped out and made into a wetroom, that is no bath in there at all now just a level access shower, and a drain in the middle of the room. They started last Monday and just finished today. You take care and don't go overdoing things. Bravo!!!!!
